In the following period, the members of Nebula Technology's R&D department expanded again and devoted part of their energy to chip design.

Why part of the energy?

Because when Liu Dalang released the news that Nebula Technology had achieved a breakthrough in 65~40nm nanoimprint technology, no one paid any attention!

It’s not like no one came at all. Major mobile phone manufacturers and some peers first congratulated, and then... nothing happened!

How could this happen?

After a lot of effort, several companies came to visit. Instead of asking for cooperation, they wanted to buy Nebula Technology. Naturally, Liu Dalang would not agree and just sent the customers away.

"Hey! We have made a breakthrough in NIL technology! We are the second company in China that can produce chips below 100 nanometers!"

Where are people?

Where are the people! ! !

Just when Liu Dalang was puzzled, he finally discovered a problem. It turned out that the industry did not know enough about nanoimprint technology.

Nebula Technology did not focus on promoting this technology. Several manufacturers came and saw that this was not good. There was not even a finished product.

And according to theory, nanoimprinting technology will be better used in flash memory chips. It is impossible to create truly high-precision chips using this technology.

But let’s give it a try anyway!

In fact, if you think about it, the supply chains of major manufacturers are also very complete. For flash memory chips, they will not rely on domestic manufacturers.

Nebula Technology itself has not yet been able to produce a finished product, and has not tested whether the nanoimprint technology can be mass-produced. Isn't this a clear attempt to bring in an unfair advantage?

No one wants to be the wrongdoer, and designing flash memory chips is not what major manufacturers are good at, so they can only attract some chip design companies.

Rather than designing your own chips, it is better to buy ready-made, existing products. There is no need to invest in R&D and design costs, and the time and risk are small.

Faced with this situation, Liu Dalang also had his own solution. He said publicly that day:

"Nebula Technology, as long as it does not fall, will always be on the road to localization!"

It is a pity that Liu Dalang's remarks did not arouse widespread recognition and were criticized by many people.

The general meaning is, where the lens is, how awesome the chip design is, and how good the sensor is.

In a word: The moon is rounder abroad.

Liu Dalang didn't refute them. Who could let him down? What they said was the truth.

Before Huawei lost ground, how many domestic manufacturers had focused on developing their own technology?

But one thing is that Chinese officials will never treat any local scientific research company badly.

Nebula Technology immediately received strong support after contacting the officials, because this is not a chip scam, but genuine technology.

Whether it can be used or not, it is enough to design a chip!

With official support, Nebula Technology needs money, people, and various policies, and the conditions are suddenly different from before.

In order to verify whether nanoimprint technology can produce SOC, Nebula Technology R&D Department established a chip design project team.

There are currently two chips under design, code-named "Chang Geng", one is a 65-nanometer process chip, and the other is a 40-nanometer process chip.

The three chips Liu Dalang wants most are: mobile platform, baseband chip, and radio frequency chip. The others can also be placed later.

These three are relatively important. The other power management chips, switch module chips, battery management chips, etc. are all very simple.

Liu Dalang has no idea when the first "Chang Geng" chip will be released, because it is also the first time for them to make such a chip.

The internal stacking method of chips produced by nanoimprint technology is completely different from conventional chips.

Including the architecture, I have to study it myself, test it again and again, and tape it out again and again. It’s a bottomless pit, and I don’t know what the final result will be.

In the note7 era, Samsung used Samsung's self-developed architecture for the first time. Later, due to various problems, it was forced to switch to the public version architecture.

People from the Nebula Technology R&D Department also want to use the public version, please come soon! The problem is that the technology is different, so if you use the public version, it will definitely not work!

Fortunately, the technology is already available. As long as you explore the design a few times, there will always be a solution.

Liu Dalang suddenly missed the "Jiuxiao" series chip drawings in the "Technology Collection". Unfortunately, the cheapest drawings were 7 nanometers.

The 40nm SOC is also a pure low-end processor. Even Fa Ge is already using 28nm. Who is still using 40nm?

Of course, even if the "Chang Geng" chip is successful, only part of it can be used to make Dalang mobile phones, and the rest of the production capacity will be in the hands of the government.

According to Liu Dalang's judgment, it will be difficult for Nebula Technology to use this low-end chip in a short period of time, about a year.

Therefore, Nebula Technology's R&D department has only allocated part of its energy. They are not a chip company and require research and development in all other aspects.

The engineering team led by Lin Dong is the busiest. They are not only busy with the adaptation of Nebulas OS, but also part-time in Nebulas native APP development.

At present, it is mainly focused on Nebula Video, Nebula Reading and Nebula Games. Now it is more like a website navigation that optimizes the user experience.

Move things from other platforms or web pages directly over, remove ads, make the interface simple and feature-rich, and improve the user experience.

Of course, to build this kind of platform, the copyright fee paid is not low. Lin Dong and others used it as an early choice, and then turned it into their own platform.

Other project teams are also very busy. Sony's two cameras have arrived, and Xingyu-Mu's photography algorithm is still being optimized.

There is also chip testing. This chip test is to test the purchased chip and adjust the screen parameters. After all, the visual appearance comes first.

Although the C-class LCD screen only has 720P, it can be fine-tuned to maximize the 720P screen so that the display effect is comparable to 1080P.

The current highest priority is still the next-stage product. Regarding the design of Xinghuo Chi, Liu Dalang is even more entangled than Xingyu Mu.

Because Xingyu-Mu does not need to use any flagship chip, as long as the performance is usable, it can operate the camera module, and it can ensure stable smoothness.

As for the Xinghuo-Chi, as a gaming phone, its performance must be strong enough. As a 4G phone, it must be guaranteed to play games for at least two years.

Currently, the only high-end flagship processor to choose from is the Snapdragon 810, but the Snapdragon 810 is a complete fire dragon. The 20nm process cannot hold down the A57 core, and all Android flagships have overturned.

Only Meizu chose MediaTek's processor and successfully avoided the "Fire Dragon 810" incident, thus gaining a considerable market share.

What Liu Dalang is going to install on Xingyu-Mu is the same processor as Meizu MX4, MediaTek MT6595, a true eight-core processor.

The shortcomings of this processor are also obvious. The performance is not strong enough. In every aspect, it is beaten to the ground by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810.

"Since the heat dissipation of Snapdragon 810 is serious, then this time the Spark-Chi will simply not add other configurations and focus only on heat dissipation and appearance design!"

Which one has the strongest heat dissipation?

Relying on VC vapor chamber, cooling gel, thermal grease, copper foil and other passive cooling methods will definitely not be able to suppress the Snapdragon 810, so the only option is active cooling!

Liu Dalang found Qu Xiangqun, the director of the design department of Nebula Technology, who was thinking hard, and said:

"Redesign it, fill up our Starfire-Blazing heat sink, and install a fan!"

Qu Xiangqun's eyes suddenly widened, and when he looked at Liu Dalang, he seemed to see Party A's father giving advice and scolding Fang Qiu!

"A fan is installed in a mobile phone? Do you need to redesign the motherboard and appearance!? I often feel frustrated because I can't keep up with the chairman's ideas!"

There was no way, Party A... no, the chairman was the biggest, Qu Xiangqun had to listen to Liu Dalang's ideas with a grimace, but as he listened...

! ! !

Can a mobile phone be designed like this?

"Chairman, but in this case, the weight of the mobile phone must be 200 grams. If it is used as an ordinary mobile phone, it will be a bit..."

Before Qu Xiangqun finished speaking, he realized the problem. Since he had chosen the path of gaming phones, he might as well make the ultimate gaming phone!

For daily use, there is also the Xingyu series of mobile phones. Xingyu-Mu has invested even more than the Xinghuo-Chi gaming phone.

Active noise reduction for calls, improved external sound quality, photography algorithm, appearance design, back cover craftsmanship, etc. are all better than Xinghuo-Chi.

In terms of screen size, the size of Xingyu-Mu is only 5.5 inches. On the front, Liu Dalang plans to adopt a classic full-screen design: Liu Haiping.

After conveying the idea to the design department, we still faced an important problem, that is, the material of the C-class LCD screen is very hard.

Unlike OLED flexible screens, which can be made of hard materials by bending, the four-sided borders of LCD screens cannot be controlled, which greatly affects the appearance.
