Awakened: Evolving to Godhood

Chapter 55 - Undead Slaves

"My decision isn't going to change no matter what you say," Elliot said in a calm voice, adamant about keeping the artifact with him.

"As you wish." Rosy agreed to let him take this broken piece of item. However, she was unable to understand why he took such a thing for a reward.

They were told to show their items to the receptionist of the treasure hall. The receptionist registered the items under their names, signifying that they now own it legally.

They then split up and returned to their assigned living quarters.

Elliot and Theo just entered their rooms when a notification rang out from one of their quantum cards. Turns out, it was Theo's. He looked at the message and a smile formed on his face.

He excused himself and left the room, leaving Elliot to wonder what he was up to.

Though, Elliot's focus soon shifted to the Fruit of Earth and Moons.

"Say, how do I purify this fruit?" Elliot asked in his mind.

<The Champions can use God's Qi to purify this herb. One unit of God's Qi is enough to purge one unit of impurities from the magic herb>

"Great!" Elliot felt excited to find out that God's Qi can even purge impurities from such powerful magic herbs. A herb that is clean of all impurities, not only has no side effects but also improves to become something better.

He took out the fruit from his spatial bracelet and recited the first step he needs to purify it in his mind. First of all, he needs to pour God's Qi into it, so he placed his hands on the fruit and urged God's Qi in his body to come out of his palm and enter the fruit.

However, he hit a wall!

God's Qi wasn't responding to his thought.

It didn't work like his God's matrix!

He didn't know how to push God's Qi out of his body.

"How do I control God's Qi to leave my body?" Elliot asked in his mind, believing that Hope has an answer to his question.

<The Champion needs to learn an energy controlling magic technique for that>

Elliot didn't know where to go to learn such a magic technique.

He believed that the Academy will teach them magic techniques, but he didn't know when.

"Maybe I can ask Nina about it," Elliot said under his breath, knowing full well that his bet to get such a technique was his childhood friend.

It was too late at night and he didn't know where she lives either. So, he decided to talk about this matter with her tomorrow.

He stored the fruit in his spatial ring and then his focus shifted on creating undead slaves.

"First off, I need to feed it my blood and energy to become its owner."

Without any sort of hesitation, Elliot sliced open a gash on his palm by using a knife made out of the essence of life. He clutched the ring with a skull on it in his bloodied hand. Surprisingly, the ring released a powerful suction force and absorbed a lot of his blood into it.

<You've lost a considerable amount of blood>

<-5 HP>

<HP: 5/10>

The damned ring quenched its thirst by sucking half the blood in Elliot's body, leaving him exhausted, tired, and at the brink of his consciousness.

"Hope, use the authority of recovery on me." Elliot's words weren't met with silence and a notification popped up in his mind.

<The Champion will need to pay 80 units of the essence of life to activate the Authority of Recovery to recover to peak conditions. Do you want to?>

Elliot agreed without hesitation.

<-80 units of the Essence of Life>

<Remaining Essence of Life: 1420 units>

<Authority of Recovery is healing you>

As soon as that notification popped up in his mind, Elliot's body brightened up in a golden glow that had a warm and gentle feel to it, and in a few moments, his health points regenerated to ten points.

<You've recovered to peak conditions>

Then, Elliot fed the ring his energy for it to acknowledge him as its owner. Only God's Qi and the essence of life unique to himself could be considered as his energy, but he fed it his life.

He urged the ring to absorb his essence of life and the ring released a mysterious suction force that targeted his essence of life. Golden threads made out of Elliot's essence of life came out of his body, moved towards the ring, and the ring sucked them inside itself.

<The Undead King's Requiem has absorbed a considerable amount of your essence of life. Your lifespan has permanently decreased by ten years>

The ring absorbed ten years of his lifespan before he felt a mysterious connection with it. Elliot didn't worry too much as his life span way around 200 years, and it will increase to 500 years once he reaches the Channel Opening Stage.

<Congratulations! You've become the sole owner of the Undead King's Requiem>

Now, he can create undead!

Elliot choose to create them in this room.

There was no one in the room except for him.

To him, this is the perfect time to do suspicious things.

He locked the door, making sure no one can suddenly enter his living quarters, and blinded the windows with a curtain before taking out the corpse of the monster from his inventory.

He commanded the ring to turn it into his undead slave.

A few seconds passed.

Several seconds passed.

A minute passed.

However, nothing happened.

Elliot heard imaginary caws in his head and snapped out of his disappointment.

"What is wrong with it? Why didn't it turn the carcass of the monster into my undead slave?" Elliot wondered in his mind while tapping on the ring.

He used the power of his godly eye to understand what has gone wrong.

It took some minutes for him to find out that the Undead King's Requiem can only convert the corpse of a monster with an energy core into his undead slave.

Energy cores are pretty hand and important to magicians and non-magicians alike, and only one in ten monsters have them. Some monsters congeal their energy into a core. This core is found somewhere inside of their body. This core is useful for making magic coins. It also has many other uses. It becomes the most important source of energy in a place without magic energy. It is also used to fuel a lot of the latest inventions, too.

"Guess I am going to have to sort them out."

Elliot looked at the corpses of the monsters in his inventory one by one. His eyes glowed in the intention of knowing which one has a magic core and which one doesn't. He found out that only seven out of all of them have a magic core. It was a pitiful amount, but beggars can't be choosers.

He pulled them out and commanded the ring to consume them.

Suddenly, the skull on the Undead King's Requiem opened and released a powerful suction force.

Whoosh

The carcasses of the monsters with magic core immediately vanished from the floor of the room. It wasn't just their carcasses that vanished. Every trace of their existence vanished, including their blood and the scent of blood filling their room.

<The Undead King's Requiem have created seven undead slaves, Undead Iron Fanged Shades>

<The undead slaves are resting inside the subspace of the ring>

<You can summon them by saying the keywords, Come Forth! My army of undead>

Elliot whistled in happiness and turned to summon them.

"Come Forth! My army of undead!"

An instant after he said those words, seven shades appeared next to him, a dull and lifeless look in their eyes.

"Holt shit! This works!" He exclaimed his happiness before sucking in his lips in excitement.

He looked at their stats one by one.

He also examined their strengths and weaknesses.

"What the hell! They can even evolve?!"

Turns out, he can evolve them by feeding the magic cores of powerful monsters. For example, he can increase the strength of a beast in the fifth level of the magical realm into the sixth level by feeding it the energy core and flesh of a monster in the sixth level!

Furthermore, these undead slaves couldn't feel pain either. Also, he could command them with a single thought.

"They only have a single weakness, however."
