American fame and fortune

Chapter 23 The key to audition success

The press conference was held in the lobby of the ATL Freedom Association headquarters. Martin rushed there early in the morning, contacted Kelly Gray's assistant Ella, and she took her to the large conference room near the lobby.

Many people are busy, including Kelly Gray.

Among the odd jobs, Martin saw his acquaintance Andrew.

Thinking of the new play that Jerome had mentioned the last time he went to the theater, Martin took the initiative to look for it.

If you have the opportunity, you should take it, if you don't have the opportunity, you should take it.

Martin greeted Andrew: "Morning, Mr. Andrew."

Andrew looked at Martin first, and then at Ella behind Martin, with a warm smile: "Long time no see, my friend."

Seeing the other party open his arms, Martin certainly would not refuse, and hugged him warmly.

Like an old friend.

The two chatted for a while about the cooperation between the Marietta Community Theater Troupe and Gray's Company, especially about Jerome leading the troupe to participate in new plays.

After a while, Martin found that Kelly Gray was temporarily free and said, "I'll go there."

Andrew nodded: "You are free."

Martin approached Kelly Gray and took out the speech he had prepared yesterday for her to review.

Kelly Gray had already had great feelings for Martin, and now she couldn't let go of her smile.

On the other side, Andrew watched Martin talking and laughing with the boss, thoughtfully.

Looks like a very close relationship?

Seeing that Ella was still there, he asked, "The boss knows Martin?"

Ella said casually, "The boss appreciates Martin."

"This way..." Andrew found that things were just as Ella said. The lawyer of the Freedom Association took over the lawsuit of the Beast House. The boss and Martin kept communicating, even smiling several times more than usual.

After the press conference, Andrew looked for an opportunity to come over and heard that Martin invited the boss to go to the House of the Beast again, and the boss agreed.

In addition, in front of the boss, Martin praised what he had done for the Freedom Association.

Kelly Gray praised Andrew a few words.

Andrew was about to float up.

Martin left the Freedom Association, got in the car and called Jerome. There are some things that he can't talk about directly, and there is no room for relaxation if there is a disagreement.

He said to Jerome: "Team leader, I attended a press conference of the Freedom Association in the morning, met Mr. Andrew, and chatted with him about our troupe's new play with Gray's Company."

Generally speaking, the new crew lacks many roles, so it's best to act early.

Jerome said, "I'll call him right away."

…………

As soon as Andrew returned to Gray Film and Television Production Company, he received a call from Jerome.

Jerome felt that Andrew was much more enthusiastic than before. During the period, he mentioned Martin several times, which reminded him of the debt owed by the idiot Martin. He simply said, "Can you help Martin find a role with a higher salary?"

This is the same as what Andrew thought: "There are a few supporting roles that have not yet been determined. I will call Martin later."

Andrew is very active, turning on the computer to check the real-time progress of the project.

Gray's company signed a package contract with the cable station, and the contract included more than one late-night show.

In the past few years, Gray's company has already matured, with assembly line production, low cost and fast speed. After the shooting of the previous film is completed, it is transferred to the post-production department for editing and production, and the film crew will continue to film the next film.

Most of the time, the company uses the same actor, Adam Smith, who has a good appeal among female cable subscribers and can guarantee the lower limit of ratings.

The heroine and supporting actors and actresses have also been decided, but the actors for a few supporting roles are still being selected.

Andrew chose a role, got up and knocked on the door of casting director Lynn's office: "Head, for the role of Billy, do I recommend someone?"

It was just a small character with some lines, Lynn said without raising his head, "Inform him to come and audition tomorrow afternoon."

Andrew returned to his office and called Martin immediately.

Martin took the initiative to ask him to have lunch together: "I haven't officially thanked you for your help last time. You must give me a chance today."

Andrew is not good at refusing.

Martin specifically chose a high-end restaurant in the city center. When it was time to invest, he would not be stingy.

Unlike Los Angeles, Atlanta's most prosperous areas are in the city center.

At noon, the two met at a restaurant near Taoshu Square.

During lunch, Andrew gave an overview of the characters.

Martin kept them all in mind.

"As long as the basic acting skills are good, your appearance will definitely pass." Andrew said in detail: "The late-night dramas produced by the company tend to be aesthetically pleasing, and the main audience is women, so the requirements for male actors' appearance are relatively high."

Martin nodded: "I understand."

Andrew asked the key: "Do you accept the role?"

Martin said with a smile: "No problem, the scale of the Hollywood NC-17 film is larger than this. I participated in the last shooting, and I have a rough idea."

It would be better to get the film of the Golden Lion and the Palme d'Or.

The production mode is similar to that of the mill movies back then. This kind of film has not completely disappeared, and it is also improving with the times.

North American films that cannot enter theaters each year account for more than half of the total shooting volume.

Martin does not object to this. If he is at the bottom of American society, if he is not bold enough and thick-skinned, he can talk about making a lot of money and crossing classes.

Andrew agrees: "We make art films, but they don't go to theaters, they show directly on cable TV."

Martin toasted Andrew, chatted a few words about the Liberty Association, and then asked, "Can the casting director decide this role?"

Andrew said: "The casting director Lynn can make the decision."

Martin asked, "Does Lynn have any particular preferences?"

"Special preference?" Andrew thought for a while and said, "He is a diehard Atlanta Braves."

Martin knew that the Atlanta Braves, a member of the MLB, played their home games at Turner Field in Marietta.

A lunch, with a good bottle of wine, cost Martin two nights' earnings,

Martin's investment is not limited to these. After sending Andrew away, he made a special trip to the flea market.

…………

Gray Film and Television Production Company is relatively busy this afternoon, with many young actors coming in and out.

Casting director Lynn and assistant Andrew sat in the audition room, interviewing some supporting actors.

The audition was very fast, and there was no modeling at all. Lynn watched the actor's appearance through the camera, and then asked people to make a few cool expressions, say a few lines, and send them away within two or three minutes.

"Let the actor who auditioned for Billy come in." Andrew looked at the list and said, "Martin Davis."

A female assistant opened the door and shouted, "Martin Davis!"

As soon as people came in, Lin En, who was a little tired, was refreshed a little. This young man wanted to have a face and a figure.

He looks again through the lens, very photogenic.

The main reason is that this person gave him a good first impression.

The young man was wearing a half-worn Warriors jacket and a blue baseball cap with a slightly frayed brim, which he put on a table beside him.

Lin En glanced at it and knew that the other party often wore it.

The image was outstanding, and there was nothing wrong with the brief performance. Lynn dismissed Martin and asked Andrew, "Is this the person you recommended?"

Andrew said, "It's him."

Lynn made a decision: "Just him." Then he said to the female assistant: "The role of Billy is dismissed by everyone else, don't waste their time."

The key to the success or failure of an audition is mostly not in the audition room.
